Dr. Kenji Kadomatsu

Professor Kenji Kadomatsu began his career as a pediatric surgeon at the Department of Pediatric Surgery after graduating from Kyushu University School of Medicine in 1982. He earned his PhD from Kyushu University in 1989 and worked as a researcher at Kagoshima University, the National Institutes of Health in the U.S., and Nagoya University. In 1997, he received the Young Investigator Award from the Japanese Biochemical Society, and in 2023, the Chunichi Cultural Award.
Professor Kadomatsu has published over 280 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of glycobiology, neurology, oncology, and inflammation. Notably, in 2023, he launched the national “Human Glycome Atlas Project.” He served as Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine at Nagoya University (2017–2022) and as President of the Japanese Society of Carbohydrate Research (2019–2021). He is currently Provost of Nagoya University, Trustee of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (2023–present), and Director of the Institute for Glyco-core Research (2021–present).
