Dr. Martina Muehlenhoff
Speaker Bio
Martina Mühlenhoff is a Senior Scientist and Group Leader at the Institute of Clinical Biochemistry, Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany. Her research group studies the biosynthesis and function of sialoglycans using a combination of biochemical, structural and molecular biological approaches. Martina Mühlenhoff has identified CASD1 as the key enzyme in the biosynthesis of 9-O-acetylated sialoglycans in mammals and is establishing tools and model systems to study the functional role of sialic acid O-acetylation. Since 2019, she has been head of the national DFG Research Unit ‘Sialic Acid as Regulator in Development and Immunity’.
