Speaker Bio
Breeanna Urbanowicz received her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her Ph.D. from Cornell University. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia and a member of UGA’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center and New Materials Institute. Her core research is centered on the structure, biosynthesis and biological function of the plant cell wall, a cellular component that is integral to many facets of plant biology. The tools and approaches developed are paving the path forward toward elucidating glycopolymer synthesis and deconstruction pathways used by plants and other organisms. She contributes to instruction of NSF-supported GlycoMIP, BioFGREAT, and CCRC training courses, and is a member of the scientific management team for the Center for BioEnergy Innovation (CBI).
