Dr. Rachel Hevey is a Principal Investigator focused on glycan-based drug development at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Basel in Switzerland. After completing degrees in Chemistry and Biological Sciences, Dr. Hevey pursued her PhD with Prof. Chang-Chun Ling at the University of Calgary (Canada) focused on developing rare sugar chemistry and its application in bacterial glycoconjugate vaccines. In 2013, she joined the University of Basel (Switzerland) as a postdoctoral researcher under Prof. Beat Ernst, leading a new project to help elucidate the role of siglecs in diabetes, and developing glycomimetic antagonists of therapeutically-relevant lectins. In 2015 she was promoted to her current position, where she leads a team of researchers focused on developing glycan- and glycomimetic-based therapeutics for diverse disease areas.
