I am interested in three lines of research work: (A) Structural diversity and novel functions of sialic acids, such as deaminoneuraminic acid (Kdn), cyclic sialic acids, and sulfated sialic acids; (B) Sialic acid metabolisms in health and disease mainly using medaka fish; (C) Biological significance of membrane microdomains as glycan-clustered complex in cell-cell interactions.
