Dr. Christian Büll
Speaker Bio
Christian Büll obtained his PhD degree (2017, cum laude) at the Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands, studying the role of sialic acids in tumor immunology. Enabled by a Marie-Currie fellowship, he joined the Copenhagen Center for Glycomics, Denmark, as a postdoctoral researcher developing the cell-based glycan array technology to display sialoglycans using genetically engineered cells. In 2020, Christian obtained an NWO Veni grant to start an independent research line at the Hubrecht Institute, Utrecht, NL focusing on methods to study intestinal glycosylation. In 2022, he became independent group leader in Biomolecular Chemistry at the Institute for Molecules and Materials, Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands. His research group focuses on understanding the biosynthesis of sialoglycans in human cells and to apply this knowledge for developing glycan-based molecules to modulate the intestinal immune system and the gut microbiome.
