Dr. Samy Cecioni
Speaker Bio
Samy Cecioni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Université de Montréal and a GlycoNet Network Investigator. Training in a glycochemistry lab (Université de Lyon, Prof. Vidal) and in a glycobiology lab (CNRS – Grenoble, Prof. Imberty), he completed his PhD in France, working on multivalent inhibitors of glycan-protein interactions. Pr. Cecioni then joined the lab of Prof. Vocadlo at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver) to work on chemical biology approaches geared towards eukaryotic glycosylation. As a CIHR-postdoctoral fellow, he developed substrate probes for monitoring glycosidase activity in live cells. At UdeM, he is now leading a research program focused on the development of traceable chemical strategies to capture and quantify glycan-mediated processe
