Kirk Bergstrom is an Assistant Professor in Biology at UBC's Okanagan Campus (UBCO). Dr. Bergstrom leads the Mucin Glycobiology Laboratory at UBCO (a.k.a the Mucin GlycoLab), which studies the role of oligosaccharides present on gut mucus in mediating protection from microbiota-driven diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. The Mucin GlycoLab uses this information to advise on new strategies to prevent and treat these chronic disorders.
